Howdy ho Geeks! DodgerGeek here with AccessoryGeeks.com here for a product review on this Apple iPhone/iPod data cable. You may have noticed that this here cable is quite different and unique. And you are absolutely correct. This is obviously not your run of the mill iPhone data cable so let’s take a closer look.

The first thing that I noticed about this iPod/iPhone data cable was that it was wound up. Now this is possible because these data cables are flat. Yup. Flat. I was extremely curious as to how they constructed these so, I did a little snipping.

Here you see the traditional round data cable. There are actually 4 separate wires living within one cable. They are bundled together, which makes the round shape achievable. Now, the flat one is quite innovative. Instead of just bundling to wires together, they have separated them and lined them up so the lay flat (duh). This flat iPod/iPhone data cable is only 2 mm thick, which is roughly half a mm slimmer than the round data cable.

The flat iPhone/iPod data cable differs from the round data cable in that it doesn’t get tangled. Because I am a bit OCD when it comes to wires, this data cable is definitely a good buy for me. I can’t stand having wires and cords and such dangling and tangled. Drives me crazy. But I digress…

This flat Apple iPhone or iPod data cable is the same length as the round ones, measuring in at about 40 inches. Please keep in mind that the actual male connectors on both ends (the USB and 30 pin connector) are a bit longer than the round data cables as you can see here. The width is the same, but the length of the connectors is about double. This is because they needed to lay the wires out flat and have them attach, so there is more space needed.

The flat iPhone/iPod data cable charges just like the round one. Nothing has changed in that aspect. We did test this particular data cable with a Ballistic case for the iPhone 4S only, just to make sure everything fit properly and it did. If you want to check that video out, see the links below.

The last thing I would like to mention is the color. Here we have the green and pink data cable. This is obviously not the traditional white color that Apple provides, however, this does allow you to style up your iPhone or iPod. Now when I first saw the pink one, I almost mistook it for a roll of Bubble Tape Bubble Gum. Remember that?
