The Geeks at Accessory Geeks put the Droid 2 and Droid X head to head in a screen comparison test. The Droid X has a huge 4.3 inch display, while the Droid 2 sports a 3.7 inch display. Both screens run at the same resolution, 480 x854. We took a 1280×800 wallpaper to compare the two displays. Brightness was turned all the way up on both phones. A reminder, the Droid 2 is running Android 2.2, while the Droid X is still running Android 2.1.
In our test, we found that the Droid 2 exhibited much better color saturation than the Droid X. This was most visible in the greens seen in our test image. The Droid 2′s greens were much deeper, making the Droid X’s greens appear almost washed out. The Droid X was able to display more of the picture due to the larger screen, but did have more of a washed out appearance compared to the Droid 2.
Overall, we were very impressed with the Droid 2′s screen performance. The contrast and color saturation was excellent compared to the Droid X. This was similar to our iPhone4 vs Droid X screen test, where the iPhone 4 also displayed much better contrast and color saturation than the Droid X.
