Audio innovator Altec Lansing has released new iPhone, iPod and iPad 2 accessories that the company said will stream music wireless over their Wi-Fi network to any room in a house. The inAir 5000 Wireless AirPlay Speaker is the first in a series of audio networking products by the company that they said has "groundbreaking product design."
"Altec Lansing is thrilled to add the first AirPlay speaker to our long line of products that support Apple devices and their customers," said Brendon Stead, co-president, Altec Lansing. "Apple customers have come to expect the best in design and usability, and the inAir 5000 addresses those needs while promising the amazing audio performance for which Altec Lansing is known."
The company said these speakers are designed for compatibility, amazing sound quality and designed for "household harmony." The company said they are designed for an emphasis on clean lines and minimal distractions to appeal to a wide variety of tastes.
PCMag said the iPad accessories are extremely powerful speakers, but the AirPlay itself still has some issues to work out, such as dropping signals. The product is retailing for about $500 and could be a great buy for someone who frequently listens to music.
