Those on 2G phones may be forced to upgrade to a 3G soon, as reports say AT&T is telling 2G customers they will be ending the service to focus on 3G with an offer of a free upgrade to 3G. These new owners of 3G phones may want to look into buying new phone cases and other accessories to protect their phone.

“Your current, older-model 2G phone might not be able to make or receive calls, and you may experience degradation of your wireless service in certain areas," according to the letter from AT&T, which Digital Trends said has made no explicit terms that it will be shutting down service to its customers.

This may be due to the large amount of digital traffic, with more soon to come. A report from Cisco said mobile traffic was up 175 percent in 2011 and is expected to grow by 16 times come 2016.

People looking to pick up a new phone once AT&T moves past 2G should take a look at different iPad accessories, Droid RAZR MAXX cases and more, as it should be important to like the options out there for the new device.
