Mobile phone accessory maker iASUS recently introduced a new rugged headset system designed to provide more comfort and durability than the average smartphone earpiece.
Dubbed the 500K Headset series, iASUS said the earpiece was designed with the CIA and FBI in mind. Rather than a clunky, wrap-around headset, the 500K fits snugly in the user's ear, attached to the smartphone by a "sleek coiled tube," which can cut down on noise interference sometimes found on wireless headsets.
The headset also includes a noise-reducing unidirectional microphone and a steel clip to ensure it stays in place when walking, running or chasing down a perp while still managing to look like a super cool secret agent.
The 500K Headset series is available for a number of smartphones, including iPhone, BlackBerry and Nokia devices. With optional plugs, the headset works with Motorola, Kenwood, Maxon and ICOM devices as well. The set also comes with an optional nylon case to protect it when not in use.
Smartphones and their accessories have become among the hottest technology on the market. According to a recent IHS iSuppli report, smartphone manufacturers shipped 97.2 million units in the first quarter of 2011.
