The new iPhone 4S has yet to reach store shelves and is already setting sales records.
Apple has announced pre-order sales of the 4S surpassed 1 million units in a single day. Despite the fact that many of the company's loyal followers and others considering purchasing the new iPhone expressed disappointment at the similarities between the new model and the existing iPhone 4 – the processor and other features changed, but the exterior design remained largely the same – it appears to be garnering as much interest or more as any previous Apple product.
"We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S," noted Philip Schiller, senior vice president of Apple's worldwide product marketing. "The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do."
The 4S features Apple's recently developed iOS 5, which the company touts as "the world's most advanced mobile operating system," in addition to new abilities to tap into iCloud for remote storage. A boon of the similar design and shape is that current iPhone owners will be able to use many of their mobile phone accessories should they purchase the 4S.
