Levi and Eric of Fine Grain recently posted a new Kickstarter project to produce a line of two minimalist iPad cases, the Bowden and Sheffield. Both accessories are designed to offer the functionality of a protective case, but, at three-quarter-inch thickness, they're also designed for minimalists.

"Our focus was to create a simple, clean look, while using as many natural materials as possible," wrote Levi and Eric. "We wanted this product to be crafted of the finest materials right here in our home state[Utah] because it just makes sense to build things close to home."

The Bowden is made with aircraft-grade aluminum, and features either walnut or cherry hardwood edges in addition to chrome-tanned leather. The Bowden weighs approximately 27 ounces.

The Sheffield features the same hardwood as the Bowden, but the majority of the case is made with milled polycarbonate. The cover is made with wool felt and can be used to wipe liquids. Due to the case's material, the Sheffield also functions as a dry erase board.

Both cases are designed to fit the iPad 2 and the new iPad.
