Although mobile technology has come a long way in video and sound quality, mobile phones are still lacking in the ability to project videos for large-scale viewing. The upcoming Pop Video Pico Projector accessory solves that issue by transforming the iPhone into a video projector.

Although there are other projector accessories on the market, Pop Video offers a balance of cost and functionality. Other projector accessories come in the form of docking stations or iPhone cases, which can add more bulk to the phone.

Pop Video's accessory docks directly into the iPhone, and it's pocket-sized to allow portability. It uses a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery with up to two hours of life. In addition to coming with a USB charging cable, it comes with its own app to control video settings.

Although Pop Video hasn't announced a release date, the Pico Projector accessory is priced at $99 and will be available for the iPhone 4/4S, and iPod Touch 3 and 4.
