Latest rumors regarding Apple's much-anticipated iPhone 5 suggest the smartphone is slated to be introduced at a media event on September 7.

The rumor comes from Japanese tech news provider Kodawarisan, which has a decent track record for getting Apple news right. However, Apple itself has yet to confirm the launch date.

Apple typically reserves September for new announcements about its iPod devices. However, considering Apple didn't unveil a new iPhone on its usual summer date, the September event may turn out to be a two-for-one.

According to Kodawarisan, Apple will likely ship both the iPhone 5 and the new iPod devices in late September or early October.

Rumors about Apple's iPhone 5 and iPhone accessories have been in no short supply in recent months, with most experts pointed to a late summer or early fall release date. All Things Digital, for example, recently reported the latest smartphone from Apple was slated to hit shelves in October, though no rumors have been confirmed.
