The mobile industry may be in a bit of an uneven state, according to Arieso, a company in England. The company released a report that said the top 1 percent of mobile users are generating half of the world's bandwidth.
“Some people may draw the parallel to Occupy Wall Street, and I’ve already heard comments about ‘Occupy the Downlink,’” Michael Flanagan, chief technology officer at Arieso, said. “But the situations are very different, and the mobile situation doesn’t break down along socioeconomic lines."
The company's survey found that in 2009, the top 3 percent of heavy users generated 40 percent of network traffic. These users now take up 70 percent of the world's traffic. The top 10 percent of users are consuming 90 percent of the world's wireless data.
For users that end up using their phone more than most, mobile accessories can help get the most out of smartphones, tablets and more. Things such as cases, chargers and gaming controls can help these devices become even more useful.
