Everyone loves a robot, and new mobile phone accessories will allow people to turn their laptop and mobile device into one. The Oculus transforms any laptop smaller than 11 inches into a robot that can be driven remotely with an Android, iPad or iPhone.

For a $225 pledge, the Oculus Robot, which is backed by crowd funding from Kickstarter, could be had. The fully assembled robot includes a motorized frame, periscope, charging dock,  adapter set and software to control it.

"Ever want to be in two places at once? Or keep tabs on your home or office while you're not there, even from halfway across the planet? All you have to do is combine a small laptop with the OCULUS Telepresence Robot kit," the manufacturers write on Kickstarter.

The company said the Cree LED headlight on the robot will allow users to remotely select how bright it shines. The robot can be navigated and used for surveillance and can be automatically docked in complete darkness. For those who want futuristic mobile phone accessories, you can't get too much further in time than the Oculus.
