Fruits of Partnership

We had previously heard news of Nokia splitting ways with Symbian and moving onto Microsoft, but we now see the fruits of their partnership. At first we may have expected to see a MEEGO device before a Windows Phone 7, but it seems that Nokia is much more invested within Microsoft technology than MEEGO. AT a recent press conference it was announced that they would be releasing the first Nokia Windows phones.

Since Nokia has split with Symbian we have been wondering which direction they would be heading towards since, they had previously expressed their disinterest in Android. I personally thought that they were going to be heading more towards the direction of furthering MeeGo for the purposes of all of their phones. In the end Nokia did settle to try and take Microsoft as the next option for the OS on their mobile phones.

Although Kin was one of Microsoft’s bigger failures in the mobile phone industry, Kin Studio was by far not the worst of those products. Kin Studio was actually a very intuitive way of organizing media and all of the files saved onto your Kin. Personally I did enjoy the idea behind the Kin One and Kin Two, however Microsoft really did not put too much effort into making two good phones as good or as great as they could have been.

Windows just simply keeps pushing forward with it’s devices. They have even announced that many of the newer devices will be running on ARM processors, which are currently more present within tablets and smartphones at the moment. All of this means that Windows is planning for more than just the near future in laptops and computer, but also a little further where this seemingly “tablet revolution” will be in full swing and we will all be using tablets.

As most of us remember from before the Kin One and Kin Two by Microsoft were two phones on Verizon that flopped pretty badly. Nobody wanted to pay for the ridiculous data plan required to own that phone so it was quickly taken off of the line up for Verizon smartphones. To be perfectly honest it was only smart enough for tweens, teens, and young adults who did not need their phones for business.

The Zune HD was stuck for quite some time where the Windows CE was holding the entire Windows Mobile UI in a post-stylus world. Now there are more and more people looking to take that old device further than it has yet to go. The Liberate 1.5.1 is the newest update of the ongoing Zune HD Liberate project.

I hope those of you who have already purchased, pre ordered, or are planning to purchase a Windows Phone 7 do not enjoy too much ringtone customization on your phone. The great folks at Pocketnow had taken the liberty of going through each and every ringtone available on the phone. The only reason anyone who does not hate to customize their phone even a little would do this would be for one of two reason.

Microsoft having previously issued statements about not continuing it’s line of mp3 players, seems to be trying to revive it’s line of portable entertainment after they release the Windows Phone 7. It does seem highly unlikely but there are signs that Microsoft is moving in the direction of making the Zune HD 2. There have [...]

With the new Windows Phone 7 on it’s way out Microsoft has made a pretty bold move by having a funeral for Blackberry and IPhone. This pretty much is a direct challenge saying Windows 7 will completely eliminate it’s competition. I personally as most Windows Mobile users feel that this is just making Microsoft seem [...]
